I became a painter in order to inhabit the contradiction between omnipotence and irrelevance. This is a space of healing. Recently, I have used the question of leisure as a cipher for the condition of painting and the social role of women, particularly through sports. I am drawn to heroic images on the verge of collapse. Sculptures are used to illustrate tension between the image world and the world of things. Written works situate the viewer in a conceptual environment which parallels that which is embodied. These collapsing representations reflect the only true universal: a flickering subjectivity composed of contradictions and insecurities.
